Volleyball Practice Begins

Football Practice Underway

Calumet High School football practices started today as athletes reported for 8:00am practice at Agassiz Field.  Both the JV and varsity teams have scrimmages scheduled for Friday, August 23rd.  The JV team will travel to Ishpeming-Westwood, while the varsity hosts Marquette and Ishpeming-Westwood.  Both scrimmages will begin at 11:00am.  The varsity football teams opens its

McCullah Added to UP Sports Hall of Fame

Calumet High School Hall of Famer and former Laurium resident, Holly Jean (Anderson) McCullah has been selected to be inducted into the UP Sports Hall of Fame with the class of 2014.  Holly McCullah, the “Speedball Queen” pitched two teams to Upper Peninsula fastpitch softball titles, at age 14 and then returning 18 years later

Gym Floor Project Underway

Baseman Bros. of Eagle River, Wisconsin arrived today to begin the refinishing project of the main gymnasium floor.  The project is expected to last a full week and is funded by the Calumet All Sports Booster Club.

Ben Storm Drafted by Avalanche

Calumet High School alum Ben Storm became just the eighth Copper Country hockey player taken in the National Hockey League draft since 1968 when the Colorado Avalanche selected him Sunday. Storm, a 6-foot-6, 216-pound defenseman, was selected with the 153rd overall pick, the second of the sixth round. Storm has committed to play college hockey

Gipp and McCullah Awards Presented

Congratulations to Terra Erkkila and Brendan Jacques on winning the Holly Jean McCullah and George Gipp awards, respectively, for the 2012-13 school year.  Both seniors earned 9 letters while at CHS.  Erkkila earned letters in Volleyball, Basketball, Track and Golf, while Jacques earned letters in Football, Hockey and Track.  Erkkila will be enrolling at Northern
