Next week, the Calumet athletic program will be raising money to support LOCAL cancer care at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital. On Tuesday, the Copper King hockey team will host Houghton at 7pm at the Colosseum. The Kings will be wearing commemorative jerseys that will be available to purchase in a silent auction. The minimum bid on each hockey jersey will be $75.
On Thursday, the girls basketball team will also be wearing commemorative jerseys that will be available to purchase in a silent auction. The Kings will take on WestPAC foe, West Iron County at 7:15. The minimum bid on each basketball jersey will be $50.
These events are a culmination of fundraising events that staff and students at Calumet Schools have been participating in to raise money for this great cause. These events have included a student dance, Popsicle sale, root beer float sale, and pink-cream-filled donut sale.
Calumet Athletic Director, Sean Jacques said that this effort is an attempt to give back to Aspirus and benefit local cancer patients at the same time. “Aspirus is an outstanding community partner. They do so much for us, and we are always appreciative.
