Copper Kings News · Calumet Girls Lose to Negaunee

Natalie Bartle scored 27 points as No. 2 Negaunee cruised to a 61-36 nonleague win over Calumet Tuesday in Calumet.

Bartle scored 21 of Negaunee’s 30 second and third-quarter points.

“Bartle is as good as I’ve ever seen,” Calumet coach Jeff Twardzik said. “Incredibly talented with a lot of toughness.”

The Copper Kings struggled to score overall, especially in the third quarter when they recorded four points, but Niina Anderson led the team with 16 points.

“Niina is really starting to step up as a leader and is consistently scoring for us,” Twardzik said.

Next up Calumet (7-7) travels to Escanaba Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
