Copper Kings News · Kings Get Back To Winning Ways at L’Anse

L’Anse went into halftime trailing Calumet by just two points, but the Copper Kings erupted for a 20-9 third quarter on the way to a 50-43 West-PAC victory Thursday in L’Anse.

“The key to the game was we didn’t shoot well and we turned the ball over,” L’Anse coach Scott Lloyd said. “Their ball pressure was too much in the third and fourth quarters, but other than that I felt like we were evenly matched.”

Calumet (6-6, 4-2) had three players in double-figures: Niina Anderson had 16 points, Amber Johnson added 12 and Lea Bjorn chipped in 11.

For L’Anse (3-8, 0-5) Sarah Dix scored 15 points and Josie Rice recorded 10.

Next up L’Anse travels to Ontonagon Saturday at 7:15 p.m. to make up a game previously scheduled for Jan. 22. Calumet hosts Lake Linden-Hubbell on Monday at 7:15 p.m.
