Lea Bjorn recorded a career-high 25 kills, leading the Calumet Copper Kings to a sweep over the Chassell Panthers (25-7, 25-20, 25-18) Thursday in a non-conference match-up in Calumet.
“Lea Bjorn had an outstanding game hitting from the outside,” Calumet head coach Matt Laho said. “She also had some really tough serves. The team played well tonight. They had great passing on defense and serve-receive.”
Amber Johnson, last year’s West-PAC Defensive Player of the Year, finished with 16 digs for Calumet, while Brea Johnson had 13 digs. Niina Anderson recorded 17 assists. Bjorn led Calumet with seven aces.
“Brea Johnson served well and had some great swings from the right side,” Laho said. “Amber Johnson played tough defense and passed serve really well.”
Next, Calumet goes to Hancock on Tuesday, and Chassell travels to L’Anse on the same day.
