West Iron County took a 28-25 lead early in the third quarter before dropping a 61-40 decision to Calumet in West PAC Conference boys basketball Friday night.
“It was a great third quarter for us where we were aggressive against some of the pressure they put on us,” Calumet coach Mike Ojala said. The Copper Kings outscored their hosts 22-11 in the frame.
“We did an outstanding job on the defensive boards all night,” Ojala said.
Paul Torola poured in 27 for the Copper Kings, now 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the WestPAC.
The Copper Kings now host Baraga Monday night.
