Copper Kings News · Kings Ready to Come Home

kings2The Calumet Copper Kings have not played a home game yet this season, and are ready to do so starting later this week.  The Kings will host home contests in all fall sports this week.  The home stand will start with the Calumet Invite cross country meet being held in Copper Harbor at 4:00pm on Thursday.  The meet is being hosted by the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge and is being billed as the northernmost MHSAA-sponsored sporting event in the state.  Nearly 300 athletes are expected to run on Thursday.

The action continues on Thursday as the volleyball teams host Chassell in freshman, JV, and varsity volleyball starting at 4:30pm.  It will be the first event played on the recently re-finished gym floor, which was funded by the Calumet All Sports Booster Club.

The varsity football team will host Ishpeming in non-conference action on Friday night at Agassiz Field.  Kick off is set for 7:00pm.  The night will begin with the annual Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital tailgate party.  The food and refreshments will be served starting at 6:00pm.  Friday’s football game is also designated as the annual Hall of Fame Game.  This year’s inductees and/or family members will be introduced at half-time.  The hall of fame ceremony will be held at 11:00am in the CLK Commons.  The ceremony is free of charge and open to the public.
